The Samaritans’ services boosted by further support.

3:58pm 31/08/2017

The Samaritans wouldn’t be here without the generous support of individuals, the wider community and businesses. The donations we receive allows us to provide crucial 24/7 Anonymous Crisis Support to Australians dealing with feelings of depression, sadness, loneliness and despair.

We have recently been honoured to receive further support from four major businesses, including:
Hartley’s

A leading financial services company, Hartley’s has been part of the Perth landscape since 1955. Their Charity Committee recently generously donated $2,000 to our cause, which will be used to help train new volunteers to handle phone calls on our crisis support lines.

JCLA Partnership

The John Curtin Leadership Academy (JCLA) is an intensive leadership program coordinated by Curtin Careers, Employment & Leadership. The program allows students to develop their leadership skills (including planning and communications skills, project management and teamwork), in partnership with not-for-profit organisations, including Samaritans.

Last year the project conducted by JCLA students in support of Samaritans was the Unmasked Masquerade Soiree, with over 200 attendees. This event raised over $5,500 and allowed us to train 10 new volunteers.

We have been fortunate enough to be a chosen charity once again and look forward to working together with their amazing and helpful team at Curtin.

Grill’d, Subiaco

Every month, Grill’d choose three charities, put their names and services provided on a jar, and give customers the opportunity to vote for one of the charities (customers put a token in the jar). At the end of the month, the charity with the most tokens receives the most money. Samartians were chosen during August as one of their three charities and we thank Grill’d for the chance to be included.

IKEA

IKEA have supported the Samaritans this August as part of their Community Charity initiative, with donations collected in the restaurant, coffee shop and exchanges and returns counters.

In addition to these donations, IKEA are also donating $1,000 in the form of an IKEA gift card, which will be used for equipment and supplies to brighten up the House for all Samaritans’ volunteers.

On behalf of the entire Samaritans team, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to these businesses and all individuals who have supported our cause. We wouldn’t be where we are without you. Thank you so much!
