We are now looking for volunteers who would like to join us in 2019!

The journey to become a Crisis Support Volunteer with the Samaritans begins with an Information Session.  If you are interested in hearing more about what is involved register your interest below to get started on your journey.

Come to one of our INFORMATION SESSIONS to start your journey.  Enquire below to contact us and reserve your place on one of the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 25 June 2019 from 6pm – 8pm
  • Tuesday, 30 July 2019 from 6pm – 8pm
  • Thursday, 12 September 2019 from 6pm – 8pm

Next you will be invited to attend a SELECTION EVENT.  This 3.5 hour event gives us the opportunity to get to know you better, for you to get to know us, and importantly for you to determine for yourself if you feel you have the qualities it takes to become a Samaritan. Upcoming dates are:

  • Saturday, 20 July 2019 from 1pm – 4:30pm
  • Tuesday, 20 August 2019 from 6pm – 9:30pm
  • Monday, 2 December 2019 from 6pm – 9:30pm

ASIST & CRISIS SUPPORT TRAINING
is conducted in a classroom setting and is run by experienced Samaritans.  ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a pre-requisite course and we will invite you to one of our upcoming ASIST courses, either before or after the Selection Event, if you have not completed this training elsewhere in the last two years.

Our final new Samaritan training course for 2019 will commence in September and will be held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Let us know that you would like to start YOUR journey by enquiring below.

The Samaritans wouldn’t be here without the generous support of individuals, the wider community and businesses. The donations we receive allows us to provide crucial 24/7 Anonymous Crisis Support to Australians dealing with feelings of depression, sadness, loneliness and despair.
