Due to the risks associated with the virus (COVID-19) situation around the world; and with the safety of our staff, volunteers and the wider community in mind; we have made the decision to suspend all our recruitment and training activities until further notice.

Next you will be invited to attend a SELECTION EVENT.  This 3.5 hour event gives us the opportunity to get to know you better, for you to get to know us, and importantly for you to determine for yourself if you feel you have the qualities it takes to become a Samaritan. Upcoming dates are:

  • POSTPONED – Saturday 18 April 2020 from 1pm – 4:30pm

is conducted in a classroom setting and is run by experienced Samaritans.  ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) are pre-requisite courses you will need to complete before you join us for the Samaritans training.   We will invite you to our upcoming courses, either before or after the Selection Event, if you have not completed ASIST or MHFA training in the last two years.

Dates for the remainder of the year for ASIST, MHFA and the Samaritan Volunteer training are currently being evaluated.
