The journey to become a Samaritans Volunteer involves a number of steps. Below is what the journey looks like and some key dates you need to be available. Please note that we are based in Western Australia and all of our training is facilitated in person in our Subiaco premises.

Next you will be invited to attend a SELECTION EVENT. This 3.5 hour event gives us the opportunity to get to know you better, for you to get to know us, and importantly for you to determine for yourself if you feel you have the qualities it takes to become a Samaritan. Upcoming dates are:
- Saturday 1 August 2020 from 9am-12:30pm
ASIST, MHFA & SAMARITANS TRAINING is conducted in a classroom setting and is run by experienced Samaritans across eight consecutive weeks. You will be required to attend ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) if you are not able to provide evidence of completed ASIST or MHFA training in the last two years. Upcoming dates are:
- Wednesday, 12 August to 30 September from 6pm-9pm
- Saturday, 6 February to 3 April from 9am-12pm
- Wednesday, 7 July to 25 August from 6pm-9pm
New volunteer recruitment and training is scheduled on average three to four times per year. If you aren’t available for the upcoming intake dates just let us know.
